We believe, like many others, that our salvation is by faith through grace alone. Our works have no part in our eternal salvation. We can do nothing on our own to merit God's favor when we are dead in our sins. Once our salvation is appropriated through our belief in the work of Christ, then our position in heaven is secure, and nothing can remove that from us.
We believe that much of the scriptural references to the Kingdom of Heaven are misunderstood. Rather than referring to our eternal destination in heaven, we believe that these references apply to the Millennial Kingdom, when Christ will rule on earth for 1000 years. As such, we believe that many warnings in scripture, especially in Jesus' parables, are not warnings to non-believers, but rather warnings to believers. Paul discusses the judgment seat of Christ, where believers are judged for the works they have done, whether good or bad, and we believe that this judgment occurs prior to the millennial kingdom. Thus, our position within the kingdom is highly dependent on our obedience now.
This is not intended to be a thorough doctrinal discussion of these ideas, but rather a brief overview. If you are interested in more details, you might want to check out Brian's online blog, which contains more in depth information about these beliefs.
